Rutherford McCowan - IT Suite
Location: Rutherford McCowan Building, Bankend Road, Dumfries, DG1 4ZL.
The Rutherford McCowan Building is home to the School of Social & Environmental Sustainability. The project involved the refurbishment of the existing IT suite to create a space to facilitate group study. These upgrades included:
- New furniture solutions for both PC lab and student study space
- Flexible furniture solution for acoustic / visual separation of areas
- Paint works
- New carpet
- New blinds
- LED Lighting & ensured efficiency of current sensor system
- Ceiling upgrade in support of modernized lighting
- Additional floor boxes to enable flexible use of spaces and appropriate power support for student study.

Carpet tiles donated for reuse
Steelcase products used as they are recyclability and they also use environmentally preferred materials, such as recycled content, low-emitting materials, and materials that are free from harmful chemicals. Steelcase offers end-of-life programs, allowing customers to return used products for refurbishing, reuse, or recycling, contributing to a circular economy and reducing landfill waste
